"Houto" is a local dish from Yamanashi Prefecture, in the north of Mt. Fuji. It is made by stewing wide, flat wheat noodles, vegetables and mushrooms in a miso broth. "Houto" has a charm different from the other various noodles in Japan. "Houto" has been loved as a staple in farm villages from a long time ago and is still popular even today.
In this cooking class, we will teach you the secrets to enjoy this mouth-watering dish. You will make authentic "Houto" noodles from scratch by kneading wheat flour by hand. Instructors will be available for assistance, so even beginners can make the dish with no trouble. Traditionally, "Houto" is cooked with pumpkin, which gives a sweet flavor to the soup and is good for cold prevention. Our restaurant specializes in fresh seafood "Houto" featuring big prawns, salmon, and scallops. The rich soup made from seafood broth is so delicious that customers always drink every last drop.
"Houto" is a versatile dish and the flavor changes depending on the chef.
